Determining whether you owe your deductible when you're not at fault

When you report a claim to us, our Claims Representatives will determine who is at fault based on the facts that are provided to us.

Typically, if our representatives determine that the other person is at fault,  we reduce our settlement payment to you by the amount of your deductible. Then, we contact the other person’s insurance company to recover both the payment that we made to you and the deductible amount we reduced it by. When the other insurance company reimburses us, we will reimburse your deductible amount to you.

If you choose to file a claim with the other insurance company directly, your deductible does not apply.
