Salvaged / Rebuilt / Reconstructed Title Vehicles:
We do not actively inquire about salvaged/rebuilt/reconstructed title statuses of vehicles nor do we decline to add a vehicle based on salvage status. If an agent or customer inquires about our policy regarding insuring salvaged/rebuilt/reconstructed vehicles, we kindly request that you consult the underwriting guidelines specific to the respective state. For your convenience, you may refer to the list of states below where salvaged vehicles are ineligible.
| Arizona | California | Illinois | Louisiana |
| Mississippi | Nebraska | Ohio | Oklahoma |
| Pennsylvania | Texas | Utah | Wisconsin |
Please Note:
- Clearcover does not offer coverage for vehicles made in 1980 or earlier!
- In order for the car to be added to the policy the vehicle must be registered in the PNI or PNI's spouse's name.
- Vehicles registered to a business, trust, or LLC are not acceptable.
-
This ensures that the policyholder has a legitimate insurable interest in the vehicle, and it helps to avoid potential fraud or misuse of insurance.

Questions To Ask When Removing a Vehicle From the Policy:
- What is the year, make, and model, of the vehicle you want to remove?
- Can you tell me more about why you’re removing the vehicle? For example, did you sell it, was it a total loss, etc.?
- Will you be replacing the vehicle within the next 30 days?
- Would you like this change to take place today?
IMPORTANT:
- If the vehicle being removed is the same make/model as another vehicle on the policy, advocates must have the named insured confirm the last 4 digits of the vin for the vehicle being removed!
- If vehicle removal request is due to a Total Loss, please make sure to see steps below.
Total Loss
- In the event of a total loss, if the customer was not sent a total loss letter from Clearcover advising them to contact us to update their policy, backdating is possible up to the day after the valuation date.
- The total loss letter can be found in Vice/Snapsheet. Exceptions can be considered in the event of no letter. (If there is no Total Loss letter due to denial of a claim or a claim filed with another carrier, we will not backdate).
- Make sure to ask the customer if they are currently in a rental or if it was already returned. If the insured is still in a rental, the vehicle should remain on the policy until the rental is returned.
- See article Finding total loss date in Snapsheet/VICE for how to find the valuation date.
- See article Backdating guidelines for more information on this process.
* Clearcover will not make an accommodation to backdate due to the denial of a claim or claims filed with another carrier. In these instances, we must use the first notification date as the effective date of change and/or cancellation.
Legally Registered Domestic Partner: To be considered a Legally Registered Domestic Partner the PNI & their partner must be registered through the state as a Domestic Partnership. We do not currently require any documentation to prove a Domestic Partnership but we want to make sure we are asking this appropriately when going through the quote flow.
Example: "Are you and your partner legally registered as a Domestic Partnership through your state?"
If the customer states something like "We live in the same home and have been in a partnership for X amount of years." We want to ensure we're asking probing questions to ensure they are registered in their state.
